The feisty talent manager and the matriarch of the Gutierrez family Annabelle Rama fails to enter congress after being defeated by the Raul del Mar of the Liberal Party with 118,030 votes. Rama only got 31,886 votes giving del Mar more than 86, 000 advantage over her. The Gutierrez matriarch runs under the United Opposition Alliance (UNA) which she brings her family and her talents that she manage during her campaign in Cebu City.
But inspite of her will to serve her fellow Cebuanos as the Representative in the Congress with all her machineries, Rama was defeated by del Mar who is known to be an influential politician in Visayas which came from a political family. Other candidates for First District of Cebu City includes Marlo Maamo, Florencio Villarin, Don Navarro, Junex Doronio, and Vic Mañalac.
Rama is one of the celebrities that tried their luck in entering politics. Artists included in this year’s election were Vilma Santos, Aga Muhlach, Erap Estrada, Richard Gomez, Alfred Vargas, Herbert Bautista, Angelica Jones, Joey Marquez, Isko Moreno, Lou Veloso, Jolo Revilla, ER Ejercito, Christopher de Leon, Imelda Papin, and Lucy Torres.
