World Food Programme launches the donation page for Typhoon Bopha assistance program

In line with the appeal of World Food Programme (WFP) to raise funds amounting to US $21. 6 Million that will cover the assistance program that will benefit more than 400, 000 people affected by the Typhoon Pablo (Bopha) a week ago in Mindanao they launched the donation page in their website. Areas that are most affected were Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, Lanao del Sur and the CARAGA regions that includes five provinces: Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands; six cities: Bayugan, Butuan, Cabadbaran, Surigao, Tandag, Bislig; 67 municipalities and 1, 311 barangays. Butuan City is the regional center.  

The donation page in the WFP website that will cover the assistance program to the families affected by typhoon Pablo that will run untol May 2013. Assistance program includes specialized nutritious food for the 80, 000 children in worse-affected area and to 60, 000 pregnant and nursing mothers.

The page will accept donations via credit and debit card and paypal. It will go directly to the assistance funds. Last December 12, WFP National Ambassador Against Hunger KC Concepcion visited Compostela Valley together with the WFP team and Department of Social Welfare an Development (DSWD) for the relief operations.
