Columbia Pictures brings back Matt Damon on the big screen with the sci-fi film entitled Elysium. The film will be showing in all theaters by August 2013. Written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, Elysium also stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, Carly Pope and Alice Braga.
The film is set in the year 2159 where the Earth we know now became over populated and ravaged my humankind. On that year, there are two classes of society, those who are living in the over-populated Earth and the wealthy living in Elysium, a pristine man-made space station built by the Armadyne Corporation. Because of division and inequality, there’s an uprising coming from the people in the earth against those in the Elysium that’s why Secretary Rhodes (Foster), a hard-nosed government official enforces her team to protect Elysium from those who wanted to invade it.
With Max (Damon) who is an ex-convict who agrees to take the mission he will face the anger of those who are from the ruined Earth but will try other things that will bring peace and equality to these polarized worlds.
