WFP receives Php 6M from Unilever that will benefit the children in Central Mindanao

In line with the celebration of the World Food Day 2012, Unilever Philippines strengthen their partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in supporting them in reaching out to the children of Central Mindanao. Unliver donated Php 6 Million to WFP which will benefit the school feeding program of the organization. The amount donated is equivalent to 600, 000 hot nutritious school meals to 100, 000 public elementary in Central Mindanao particularly in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte.

The said feeding program of WFP in Central Mindanao is in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). According to the WFP Philippine Country Director Stephen Anderson, they are very thankful to companies like Unilever that is very supportive with the campaign to fight hunger and malnutrition especially to the children.

Unilever utilizes their brands in order to help organizations like WFP with their campaign. Since 2008, Unilever Philippines became a WFP partner and collaborated projects like Walk the World and Sandwich Heroes. Up to date the continue working on other collaborations in order to generate funds that will benefit children in Central Mindanao. With the Walk the World project they already raised funds up to Php13.8 million together with TNT Express and DSM and globally as a global partner of WFP since 2006, they had generated US$18.7 million that benefits all WFP projects world wide.

Lastly, in regards with the global campaign of World Food Program for World Food Day the UN agency successfully raised funds that will provide 50,000 school meals through their Molly Quiz. Molly quiz is a campaign that follows the life of one of the Kenyan child who benefits from the WFP school feeding program in Nairobi, Kenya.
