Being a “Queen” is what Gretchen Barretto enjoys in Princess and I

From being the fierce and fashionable Victoria Valera in ABS-CBN’s top rating teleserye Magkaribal in 2010, award winning actress Gretchen Barretto makes her way to primetime bida time slot once again with a memorable character in Princess and I as Ashi (Lady) Behati Rinpoche. Being one of the top rating teleserye of the Kapamilya Network in the National Primetime TV shows of the Kantar Media, La Greta is very happy to be in the top 2 slot but according to her being a competitive person she wanted Princess and I to be on the number 1.

Despite of being an antagonist in the story, Gretchen accepts the role of Ashi Behati because of the beauty and freshness of the story that she knows that viewers will love it and of course the role of being the “Queen” in the story. According to her it was her dream to be a queen but she doesn’t know how until the project was presented to her and she enjoyed doing along with the great cast of the teleserye.

According to Barretto, she enjoyed working with the younger generation of stars including Kathryn Bernardo, Enrique Gil, Daniel Padilla and others where at first she doesn’t know whom they are except for Kathryn who played as the younger Victoria in Magkaribal. Gretchen shared that she admired the teen stars where they get the chance to immerse themselves with series of acting workshops like the one in ABS-CBN where she didn’t experience before when she was starting as a teen star in the 80s.

Having the chance to see La Greta in person during the Princess and I, it gives me an idea that she is a broad minded and deep personality because on how she explained her answers on the questions thrown at her. I like the way she mentioned that it was the experience in life whether it is pain, happiness, love, etc makes us a better person in the future and how it will build our character and personality. With this kind answer, Gretchen Barretto really deserves to have the title “La Greta” or maybe the “Queen” that she always wanted to have because of her being a blue blooded showbiz royalty and a good conversationalist.
