Lifeline Foundation Support Team, Inc joined the call of United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in support to the hungry people affected by the triple threat of drought, high food prices and conflict in the Horn of Africa.  In their Rain4Africa: A “Lifeline to Africa” Run, Lifeline Foundation aims to raise funds in order to reach out the mothers and child who victims of hunger and drought in Africa particularly in Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya and Uganda where WFP is now having relief operations. The charity run will happen on November 13 at the Westgate Center, Filinvest, Alabang in Muntinlupa City. Registration fee cost P400 for all categories.

There will be three categories including the 3K, 5K and 10K. All proceeds will be given to the Horn of Africa relief project of WFP. Betty Romero, Deputy Director of Lifeline Foundation, believes that Philippines should not only receive aid, but also give assistance where we can. It takes only 50 cents or 21 Philippine Pesos to feed child or a mother a nutritious meal for the day in Africa. With the 5 countries monitored by WFP in Horn of Africa there are already 7.7 million drought-affected people. Drought in the whole region, coupled with conflict in Somalia, has affected over 13 million people.

While Stephen Anderson, WFP Philippines Country Director appreciate this project did by Lifeline Foundation and he was amazed seeing this unique partnership in which a Filipino grass-roots organization is supporting the cause of hungry people half way around the world. The partnership of WFP and Lifeline Foundation will run for a year and aims to raised funds amounting $10, 000 in order to complete their project for the benefit of their beneficiaries in the Horn of Africa. The Rain4Africa is just one of the projects that Lifeline will be having soon.
