>12 Women dies every day because of Cervical Cancer

According to World Health Organization there is around 510,000 new cervical cancer cases annually worldwide and there are around 12 deaths per day. Sadly women die in vain and helpless to protect themselves from this silent killer that was ranked number 2 that caused female mortality around the world. According to studies 80% of Cervical Cancer cases are found in developing countries like the Philippines where women face great stress and pressure and not aware of what it contributes with their health.

In the Philippines, there are 7,277 new cases each year and mostly it came from Cebu, Davao and Rizal according to the Department of Health (DOH) where mostly women are not aware of this kind of cancer and doesn’t know how to protect themselves.

One of the major contributors of cancer especially the on cervix for women and even to men are the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and there are 15 among the 200 HPV types are cancer causing. 70 % of the cervical cancer cases came from the Type 16 and 18 and Type 45 the 3rd most common cancer causing HPV types which is prevalent among the Filipinas. But this type of HPV can be prevented or put on halt through vaccine which is currently manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. Let’s help to empower women to fight this silent killer let them know the risk of cervical cancer and HPVs now.
