The fight against illiteracy and poverty never stops as Efren Peñaflorida takes home the CNN Hero Awards last 2009, but his quest continues and encourages everyone takes part on this challenge. HoterlWithHeart.com (HWH), an online hotel booking website who is also promotes charity and advocacy among their clients and now they answers on this challenge with their Pencil Project in support of Dynamic Teen Company (DTC) who headed the Kariton Klasrum Project in Cavite
I had visited the area several times; this weekend activity doesn’t stop in one point alone, instead from morning until late afternoon the volunteers from DTC targets four areas in Cavite. Areas include a vacant lot in Cavite Market, cemetery, dumpsite and Badjao community. With their kariton (cart) that serves as shelves for educational toys, books, and other educational materials, DTC brings education in their own way to the impoverished children. Along with this they also promote proper hygiene and basic rights among the kids.
With the Pencil Project of HoterlWithHeart.com, for every sign up they will donate a pencil to Klasrum Kariton. So if ever a thousand or more will be signing up for this campaign a thousand or more pencils will be given to children and they will benefit a lot. DTC is a non profit organization, in order to go on with there advocacy is with the help of those who has heart and willing to help. A simple signature for this campaign doesn’t give harm and it doesn’t eats much of our time by filling up our pledge to support. But for the kids who will benefit for this project it will bring a change to their lives. I saw how hard for this kids who doesn’t have the fortune to afford decent education even they really love to have one, and with DTC’s Klasrum Kariton Project basic education was brought to them and a simple pledge for a pencil can bring a lot for them.
