Former P-pop girl group member Alexei Claire takes charge of her own story as she launches her solo music career with “girl of your dreams,” a debut single about breaking free from expectations and learning to embrace one’s true identity.
The track marks a new chapter for Alexei, who began her music journey as a member of P-pop girl group YGIG before leaving the act in 2025. Now signed under Tarsier Records, she steps into the spotlight as a solo artist, offering a more personal glimpse into her experiences and growth.
Co-written and co-produced by Alexei, Jameson Tenorio, and BGYO’s Nate Porcalla, “girl of your dreams” delivers a message of self-acceptance and individuality. It encourages listeners to stop chasing other people’s ideals and find the courage to embrace who they are beyond the expectations placed upon them.
In a social media post, Alexei opened up about how her pursuit of her dreams led her to lose sight of herself as she tried to meet other people’s expectations.
“I started a journey towards my dream as an innocent, passionate young girl. I was confident that I would be resilient and strong enough. Well, little did I know, I started losing myself to be who people wanted me to be. I started chasing other people’s dreams. I have had enough of their expectations. I have had enough of their judgment. And I am done destroying myself to fit in,” she shared.
Beyond her work with YGIG, Alexei also appeared in the music video for Maki’s “Bughaw,” alongside Kyler Chua and Zeke Abella. With “girl of your dreams,” she begins a new chapter in which she takes a more active role in shaping her musical identity and sharing her own story.
