Rising P-pop group WRIVE teams up with singer and “It’s Showtime” host Cianne Dominguez for a contemporary remake of the rap/hip-hop classic “Sumayaw Ka,” bringing a new energy to the song’s message of perseverance and passion.
Originally written and performed by Gloc-9, “Sumayaw Ka” reflects on life’s challenges while encouraging listeners to keep moving forward and stay true to what they love. For the new rendition, the track was produced and arranged by Darren Cashwell and WRIVE member Russu.
WRIVE had already given fans a taste of the remake through live performances ahead of its official release, including the group’s first anniversary celebration, “Unang Taon,” last July and Star Magic’s All-Star Games at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last month.
The group also built anticipation online through a dance challenge, with various Kapamilya personalities joining the trend and showing off their own moves to the upbeat track.
The collaboration comes as WRIVE continues to make its mark in the growing P-pop scene. The group released its self-titled debut album last January, which has since surpassed 700,000 streams on Spotify and features songs such as “Ooh La La,” “Senorita,” and “Panaginip Na Lang.”
With WRIVE’s youthful energy and Dominguez’s distinct vocals, the new “Sumayaw Ka” offers both longtime fans and a new generation of listeners another way to experience the enduring message of the classic track.
