Netflix has confirmed the production and cast of “Materesa”(working title), a new Korean thriller that follows a criminal psychologist and professor who investigates high-profile cold-case murders while confronting buried trauma and complicated relationships.

NANA stars as Ma Teresa, a cold-blooded yet deeply complex criminal psychologist who is called in to consult on unsolved murder cases. She is joined by her assistant Park Seol, played by rising star Kim Dan, whose innocent appearance conceals a mysterious secret, and prosecutor Yoo A-ram, portrayed by Jung Gun-joo, Teresa’s longtime friend who remains wary of Park Seol’s growing presence in her life.

As Ma Teresa interrogates criminals and pieces together clues from long-unsolved cases, she moves closer to a truth she has long sought. At the same time, her interactions with Park Seol and Yoo A-ram awaken unexpected emotions, gradually exposing the complicated connections and long-hidden feelings between the three characters.

The series is directed by Jang Young-woo, known for Queen of Tears and Bulgasal: Immortal Souls, and written by Kwon So-ra and Seo Jea-won, the writers behind The East Palace. Together, they bring a psychological thriller that combines high-profile murder investigations with an increasingly tense emotional story.
NANA, known for Mask Girl and Glitch, takes on the role of Ma Teresa, portraying a woman whose hardened exterior masks unresolved trauma. Kim Dan of The Winning Try plays Park Seol, whose warm smile hides an unpredictable side, while Jung Gun-joo of Mercy for None brings quiet depth to Yoo A-ram as she navigates her complicated relationship with Teresa. “Materesa” will explore the pursuit of truth in cold-case murders and the emotions that emerge along the way, exclusively on Netflix.
