The award-winning 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) film “Call Me Mother” is coming to Netflix beginning August 27, giving audiences another chance to watch the acclaimed comedy-drama starring Vice Ganda, Nadine Lustre, and Lucas Andalio. Directed by Jun Robles Lana, the film follows a pageant coach who agrees to train a former beauty queen in exchange for custody of her son, leading to an emotional story about motherhood, family, and unconditional love.

Vice Ganda stars as Twinkle, a queer single mother who has raised young Angelo, played by Lucas Andalio, while Nadine Lustre portrays Mara, Angelo’s biological mother. Their unexpected encounter brings together two women with different experiences of motherhood, as they navigate custody, sacrifice, and the question of what truly makes someone a parent.
“Call Me Mother” made a strong showing at the 51st MMFF Gabi ng Parangal, where Vice Ganda won Best Actor for her performance as Twinkle, while Lucas Andalio was named Best Child Performer. The film also received the Gender Sensitivity Award and shared Third Best Picture honors with “Manila’s Finest.”
