Acclaimed filmmaker Lee Chang-dong is set to make his long-awaited return to the big screen with Possible Love, which will premiere globally on Netflix on November 6 following its highly anticipated world debut at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival and its North American premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.
Netflix unveiled the film’s official date announcement poster, confirming that Possible Love will first be released in theaters before making its worldwide streaming debut. The film opens in South Korea on September 23, followed by Australia on October 22, and the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Japan on October 23.
Already generating international buzz, Possible Love has been invited to compete at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, before heading to the Special Presentations section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, underscoring its status as one of the year’s most anticipated Korean films.
The film follows two married couples whose lives become unexpectedly intertwined. One couple consists of a laid-off worker and his wife, while the other is a documentary filmmaker and her husband. Their paths cross when the filmmaker decides to document the first couple’s story, forcing both marriages to confront long-buried emotions, hidden desires, and the fragile truths beneath their relationships.
The newly released date announcement poster features Mi-ok (Jeon Do-yeon) and Ye-ji (Cho Yeo-jeong) standing apart beneath moonlit trees at dawn. The haunting image creates an atmosphere of quiet tension, hinting at the emotional reckoning that awaits both couples.
Marking Lee Chang-dong’s first feature film in eight years, Possible Love brings together an all-star cast led by Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong, making it one of the most anticipated Korean ensemble films of the year.
Following its festival screenings and international theatrical rollout, Possible Love will be available exclusively on Netflix worldwide beginning November 6.
