Netflix is set to premiere its new Korean period mystery series The East Palace on July 17, bringing together supernatural horror, palace intrigue, and mystery in a story set between the royal court and the shadowy Realm of Gwi.
Leading the cast are Nam Joo-hyuk, Roh Yoon-seo, and Cho Seung-woo. The series follows Gu-cheon, a spirit-catcher who can travel between the human world and the Realm of Gwi, as he joins forces with court lady Saeng-gang, who can hear the voices of spirits, to investigate a bloodstained curse that has haunted the royal palace for 30 years. Under the king’s secret orders, the two uncover dark secrets buried deep within the royal family’s past.
Ahead of the premiere, Netflix released the series’ main trailer and official posters, offering a glimpse of the eerie world of The East Palace. The trailer teases a palace gripped by fear after a vengeful spirit threatens to wipe out the royal bloodline, forcing the king to summon Gu-cheon to confront the growing supernatural threat.

The newly unveiled poster features Gu-cheon and Saeng-gang standing together beneath the crimson glow of the Realm of Gwi, symbolizing their partnership as they battle spirits and unravel the mysteries hidden within the East Palace.
The East Palace is directed by Choi Jung-kyu (The Devil Judge, Children of Nobody) and written by Kwon So-ra and Seo Jea-won (Bulgasal: Immortal Souls, The Guest).

Director Choi praised the lead cast for their performances, describing Nam Joo-hyuk as the ideal actor to lead the story with his passion and dedication. He also commended Roh Yoon-seo’s bold and authentic portrayal of Saeng-gang and expressed his excitement about reuniting with Cho Seung-woo, whose meticulous preparation and commanding performance helped bring the series to life.
The East Palace premieres exclusively on Netflix on July 17.
