9 Works Theatrical sets sail with Yemaya, a sweeping new musical that journeys through myth, motherhood, identity, and destiny. Blending fantasy, adventure, and heart, the production brings an unforgettable tale of hope, resilience, and self-discovery to the stage.
Sharing the role of Jesus/Mulo are acclaimed actors Tommy Alejandrino and Benedix Ramos, while Sheena Belarmino and Ness Roque alternate as Maya. Leading the cast as Yemaya/Inay is award-winning theater icon Bituin Escalante, joined by veteran actor-director Herbie Go as Tico.
Completing the ensemble are Sheenly Gener as Lila, Anthony Falcon as Jelin, and Wenah Nagales as cover for Yemaya/Inay.
YEMAYA follows a young boy’s epic journey across lands and seas as he searches for his place in the world. What begins as a simple question of “what if” becomes a magical adventure filled with hope, perseverance, and the call of the tides.
The production is directed and designed by Ed Lacson Jr., with a creative team that includes Eljay Castro Deldoc (Filipino translation), Teresa Barrozo (music and sound design), JM Cabling (movement), Ericson Navarro (costumes and props), and Jethro Nibaten (lighting), among others.
Produced by 9 Works Theatrical under managing director and executive producer Santi Santamaria, YEMAYA runs on weekends from June 13 to July 5, 2026, at The Black Box, The Proscenium Theater, Rockwell Makati. Performances are scheduled at 8:00 PM on Fridays and 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
