Before his stint in the live 3D movie Yogi Bear as the voice of Boo Boo, Grammy-winner Justin Timberlake will be playing the role of Sean Parker, the smooth-talking Napster founder-turned-Facebook president who pulls Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) into his venture-capital-rich world while persuading the young upstart to bury his biggest investor, and friend, Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield). The Social Network will be showing in all cinemas nationwide wide beginning October 27 and it is directed by David Fincher. The film is distributed by Columbia Pictures.

Timberlake says that when the role (Sean Parker) was offered to him and had a glimpse on the story he was excited because it was a perfect screenplay. “I knew that it was in the two percentile of material that is just great. And then I heard David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Zodiac, Fight Club) was going to be the director,” she said.

Opposite to his character in The Social Network, Timberlake is into Twitter rather than Facebook where the movie is based. He has more than 3 million twitter followers and only follows less than 20 individuals including his mom. “The biggest question I’ve heard from people is, ‘Why would they make a movie about Facebook?’ And I try to say, you know, it’s not really about Facebook. Facebook is the catalyst for some deeper themes.” Timberlake claimed.

Timberlake plays the role of Sean Parker a co-founder of Napster, the music-sharing service that was big hit in 1999 but they face lawsuits against label companies on copyright violations and piracy. According to Aaron Sorkin, writer of the film during the time he is writing the story the name of Timberlake came in that is fit for the Parker role. As for the film director Fincher, the believed that Justin who was a popular actor and singer will accept the role though it was not the lead character where he will overcome his fame baggage, like he is doing on Saturday Night Live.

As for Timberlake he described Fincher’s directing style as mentally and emotionally and physically exhausting, where he needs to give everything to his role especially during the intense monologues that his character often does in the movie. But also artistically just like breaking free. It’s freedom. Because you get to do so many takes that you get the opportunity to mess it up” Timberlake ended.

The Social Network will be open in all cinemas nationwide beginning October 27, and it is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
