DreamWorks Animation is bringing one of its most beloved preschool series to the big screen for the very first time. Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie is set to open in Philippine cinemas on September 24, 2025, promising an imaginative, musical, and heart-filled adventure for kids and families alike.
Based on the global hit Netflix series, the film stars Laila Lockhart Kraner, reprising her role as the ever-curious and kind-hearted Gabby. This time, Gabby embarks on a magical road trip to Cat Francisco with her Grandma Gigi, portrayed by none other than four-time Grammy Award winner Gloria Estefan. But when Gabby’s most precious possession—her dollhouse—is stolen by the eccentric cat lady Vera, voiced by Kristen Wiig, the adventure kicks into high gear. Gabby must step into the real world, gather the Gabby Cats, and save the dollhouse before it’s too late.
For DreamWorks Animation, this film marks more than just a milestone for the franchise—it’s also the studio’s first hybrid feature film, combining traditional storytelling with interactive and multimedia elements designed for the theater. “Gabby’s Dollhouse is filled with endless creativity and imagination, playing out in a deeply imagined world,” says DreamWorks Animation President Maggie Cohn. “Combine this with a director with vision and a passionate fanbase wanting more, and we had a great start for our movie.”
Director Ryan Crego, already immersed in Gabby’s world thanks to his own children who are avid fans, emphasized the responsibility of expanding the series into a cinematic experience. “This isn’t a TV special; this is Gabby and the Gabby Cats on their biggest big-screen adventure yet,” Crego explains. “We wanted to give kids their very first cinematic journey—one full of glitter, music, silliness, but also emotional depth.”
More than just a children’s film, Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie carries a universal message: rediscovering the joy of play. “As adults, we often lose touch with that sense of childlike wonder. This movie is about holding on to it,” Crego says. With its mix of heartfelt storytelling, colorful characters, and interactive in-theater fun, the film is expected to be both a nostalgic and inspiring experience for all generations.
Get ready for music, magic, and the biggest adventure Gabby and her furry friends have ever faced when Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie opens in Philippine cinemas on September 24, 2025.
