The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) proudly presents a heartwarming art exhibit dedicated to the ASPINS (Asong Pinoy) of the PAWS Shelter, brought to life through the colorful brushstrokes of renowned Japanese pet portrait artist Hiro.
Running from August 18 to 24, 2025 at Level 3, Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City, the exhibit celebrates National Aspin Day while raising much-needed support for PAWS’ rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming programs. Proceeds from all artworks will go directly to the organization’s animal welfare initiatives.
Known for his pop-inspired pet portraits, Hiro captures the personality and charm of animals in vibrant acrylics. His artistic journey began during the pandemic when he painted his beloved Miniature Schnauzer, TOP. What started as a personal project quickly blossomed into his first solo exhibition in Tokyo, followed by a series of sold-out shows in the Philippines. At the heart of his work is a deep advocacy for animal welfare and a message that continues to inspire: “Differences are individuality, and individuality is beauty. Live with confidence.”
In this special collaboration with PAWS, Hiro turns his attention to the ASPINS, loyal, loving, and often overlooked, to highlight their worthiness of admiration and love alongside any breed. Each painting reflects resilience and hope, inviting viewers to see the beauty and dignity in every shelter dog.
This exhibit also coincides with National Aspin Day, an annual event launched by PAWS in 2021 to honor and uplift the Filipino native dog. By unveiling the exhibit on this day, PAWS strengthens its mission to not only celebrate ASPINS but also foster awareness, empathy, and responsible pet ownership.
“Through my art, I want people to see ASPINS not just as strays, but as beautiful, unique individuals deserving of respect and a safe, loving home,” Hiro shared.
All proceeds will support PAWS’ programs in animal rescue, veterinary care, and public education.
