>Docs: Saguisag surgery ‘less likely’
Surgery is “less likely” to be performed on former senator Rene Saguisag following injuries sustained in the road crash that also killed his wife on Thursday.
“Attorney Saguisag responded favorably to treatment he has been receiving for his injuries and is now more awake,” said Dr. Eric Nubla, spokesman of Makati Medical Center.
Nubla added that as of the 3:30 medical bulletin, Philip Calvario, Saguisag’s driver, is now in stable condition.
The two, however, are still in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
The road crash shortly before 2 a.m. killed Saguisag’s wife, Dulce. Her dance instructor, Imelda Ubong sustained minor injuries.
The couple and the other victims were on their way after a night of ballroom dancing when their van was rammed by a dump truck at the corner of Arnaiz Avenue and Osmeña Highway.
