Dubbed as the “Horror Movie Queen” in the Philippines film industry, Lilia Cuntapay passed away on Saturday (August 20) morning at the age of 81 reported in DZMM. The said passing of Lilia was confirmed by her grandchild Elma Cuntapay-Daet that she died at her son’s home in Pinili, Ilocos Norte.
Earlier this month, Cuntapay was reported that she suffered spinal cord illness and she could not walk. She appealed to her colleagues in the industry to help her in her medication.
She was known with her beat roles as aswang and white lady in various horror movies. In 2011 she won Best Actress in the Cinema One Originals Film Festival for Antoinette Jadaone’s Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay. She also played the character of Aunora, the love interest of Bangky (Nonong de Andres) in Forevemore series of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano. The BangLi loveteam was born and became popular.
Before entering showbiz, Lilia was a primary school teacher in Tuguegarao and later entered buy-and-sell business and worked in National Police Commision (Napolcom),
She was born in Cabiraoan Village in Gonzaga, Cagayan on January 3, 1935. She died at the age of 81.
