Rachelle Ann Go is the new Fantine in West End’s production of Les Miserables

After her successful portrayal of the character of Gigi in the 2014 West End Revival of Miss Saigon, Filipina actress and singer Rachelle Ann Go decided to ended her journey in the musical and give it to a Filipino-Australian theater actress Natalie Mendoza. But the West End journey of Rachelle Ann doesn’t stop there because the production of Les Miserables that will be opening on June 15 this year and will run until 2016 announced that she will be playing the role of Fantine.

Lea Salonga played the role of Fantine in the 25th Anniversary of Les Miserables at The O2 in North Greenwich, London, England in 2010. Originally Rose Laurens played the character on the French stage in 1980 and by Patti LuPone in the West End in 1985. Rachelle will be playing her role at the Queen’s Theater together with new cast members including Phil Daniels as Thénardier’, Jeremy Secomb as Javert, Katy Secombe as Madame Thénardier and Zoë Doano as Cosette.

Meanwhile the returning cast members including Peter Lockyer as Jean Valjean, Rob Houchen as Marius and Carrie Hope Fletcher as Eponine. Lastly Bradley Jaden, who is currently in the ensemble, will be playing the role of Enjolras.

The musical will run until March 2016. The role Fantine gave the actress Anne Hathaway the Best Supporting Actress in the 2013 Oscars during her portrayal of the character in the 2012 film adaptation.
