After several months of speculations, ABS-CBN officially announces that showbiz royalty and member of the Star Magic Circle 2013 Julia Barretto will be playing the role of Cofradia in a teleserye with the same title that will be airing soon on the Kapamilya Network. Cofradia is a character that was first portrayed by veteran actress Gloria Romero in 1953, and Gina Alajar in 1973. Cofradia is a TV adaptation of Dominador Ad Castillo’s novel with the same title.
As Cofradia, Julia plays a girl who is afraid to fall in love because of her dark complexion, but will eventually transform into a beautiful young lady through the help of a magic candle. A story of love and believing to herself are the main core of Cofradia that will surely caters to all viewers of ABS-CBN especially the teleserye supporters. Meanwhile, Julia Barretto being the daughter of Marjorie Barretto and Dennis Padilla she already showcased her talent during her stint in Kokey, Palos and Walang Kapalit.
Before this official announcement, Julia Barretto together with her family particularly her aunts Gretchen and Claudine and grand mother Inday were involved in a family feud where as her name was dragged due to the issue that one of her aunts was allegedly trying to hinder her showbiz career. Also a photo of her mother surfaces which the person who uploaded the photos are still on a manhunt. But now the limelight shifted to Julia in her quest to create her own name as a rising star of the Kapamilya Network venturing to drama where Cofradia will be her launching lead project.
