Aside from the passing of Reproductive Health Bill here in the Philippines last December 2012, another shocking news shaken the Roman Catholic Church not only here in the Philippines but the whole world after Vatican officially announced the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI that will happen on February 28, 2013. The announcement was made official by the Vatican spokesman, Federico Lombardi that the pontiff will be relive his post at exactly 8pm in Vatican on Feb 28.
The reason for the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI is the strength of the Pope is longer adequate to fulfill his duties as the leader of the Roman Catholic faith. With his resignation on February 28 marks in the history of the Roman Catholic as the first Pope to resign in centuries. The first Pope who resigned was Pope Gregory XII in 1415.
He succeeded Pope John Paul II in April 19, 2005 after his death in April 2. Pope Benedict XVI or Joseph Ratzinger is the first German Pope in the history of Catholic Church. He is currently at the age of 85. Up to date there’s no details on the papal conclave to elect new Pope.
