Anthony Hopkins is Alfred Hitchcock in 20th Century Fox’s Hitchcock film

We saw films that focus on the autobiographies and anecdotes of popular actors and politicians, but this will be my first time to see a film that will center on the life of famous director Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock will be played by veteran actor Anthony Hopkins. Directed by Sacha Gervasi, the film is set for international release on November 23, 2012 while in the Philippines it will be on February 6, 2013 by 20th Century Fox thru Warner Bros. Pictures.

Alfred Hitchcock is a film director and producer that pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. During his active years in filmmaking from 1921 to 1976 he directed more than 50 films including Psycho, The 39 Steps, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Dial M for Murder, Vertigo, To Catch a Thief and Frenzy. In the Hitchcock film where he will be portrayed by Anthony Hopkins, who is one of the greatest living actors and became popular with the character Hannibal Lecter in the suspense thriller film entitled The Silence of the Lambs and followed by Hannibal sequels.

The Hitchcock film will center on the life of the director and his relationship with his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren) during the creation of the film Psycho. It will show how Alfred creates his masterpiece and the way he develop it including his inspirations. The film was based from Stephen Rebello’s non-fiction book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho.

Joining Hopkins in the film are Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, James D’Arcy and Toni Collette.
