FN Designs presents Home, Again, a deeply personal and immersive exhibition by visual artist Sahar Ghavami. The show transforms themes of loss, childhood, and healing into fantastical visual worlds, offering a heartfelt tribute to rescue animals and the bonds they inspire.
Rooted in memory, imagination, and emotional resilience, Home, Again explores love, loss, and the longing for connection. Ghavami’s work creates childlike, immersive spaces where fantasy and reality gently merge, inviting viewers into her inner world.
Sahar Ghavami holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Education, a combination that informs her narrative-driven practice. Over the past eight years, her work has been exhibited across the United Arab Emirates and internationally, including Expo 2020 Dubai, the Musée International du Carnaval et du Masque in Binche, and Kunstroute Leuven. Her art is distinguished by its narrative depth, emotional clarity, and the ability to transform deeply personal experiences into a universal visual language.
The exhibition originates from a pivotal moment in Ghavami’s life. Growing up in the UAE, she was surrounded by rescued animals, including cats, dogs, birds, turtles, and goats, who became her first experience of unconditional love and care. This bond was profoundly disrupted by a severe autoimmune illness that nearly claimed her life. While she survived, the illness left her with extreme allergies, preventing physical closeness with animals. That absence became a quiet, enduring ache now expressed through her art.
Reflecting on the exhibition, Ghavami says:
“Each painting builds a world where my inner child and my animals can coexist again, a safe space shaped by healing, imagination, and emotional truth. These works are my homage to them.”
Drawing inspiration from the Superflat movement, Home, Again blurs the boundaries between fantasy and reality. Ghavami employs flattened compositions, bold outlines, and the intuitive logic of childhood drawings to create imagined spaces where her inner child and animal companions reunite. These gentle refuges are shaped by color, softness, and emotional resonance.
The exhibition itself is immersive, extending beyond the canvas. FN Designs transforms the space into a reimagined childhood bedroom and a nostalgic UAE-style baqala stocked with snacks from Ghavami’s upbringing. These elements ground the exhibition in lived experience, blending personal memory with collective nostalgia.
Across her work, Sahar Ghavami resists being defined by geography alone, focusing instead on emotions that resonate universally, including longing, play, vulnerability, and resilience. Home, Again stands as both an homage and an offering, a return to childhood not as it was but as it is remembered, reimagined, and reclaimed.
Home, Again is on view at FN Designs, Alserkal Avenue, from 15 January 2026 to March 2026. For more information, visit FN Designs or follow updates on their social channels.
