The IdeaFirst Company has unveiled the official poster for Sisa, the highly anticipated historical thriller that marks the return of legendary actress Hilda Koronel to the big screen after more than a decade.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jun Robles Lana (Bwakaw, Die Beautiful), Sisa is set during the Philippine-American War and tells the story of a woman who survives the massacre of her family and village. Thought to be a “madwoman” by those around her, Sisa uses her perceived madness as a disguise while secretly working as a spy for Filipino revolutionaries.

Koronel last film project before saying yes to Sisa was The Mistress (2012) under Star Cinema with Bea Alonzo, John Lloyd Cruz and Ronaldo Valdez.
The production team recreated the look and feel of an early 1900s reconcentrado settlement to immerse audiences in the era. Koronel described the experience of filming as “coming home,” noting the collaborative spirit on set reminded her of her work with National Artist Lino Brocka on classics such as Insiang and Maynila sa Kuko ng Liwanag.
To date, Koronel has received numerous acting awards from the Metro Manila Film Festival, FAMAS, the Luna Awards, and the Gawad Urian.
Sisa wrapped filming in March 2025 and also stars Eugene Domingo and Jennica Garcia.
