Changan Automobile strengthened its position as a global mobility leader at IAA Mobility 2025, unveiling next-generation technologies and reinforcing its ambitious global expansion strategy under the “Vast Ocean Plan.” Central to this strategy is the company’s deepening focus on the Middle East and Africa (MEA), regions that Changan considers key growth markets and long-term partners in building the future of intelligent, sustainable mobility.
Since entering the MEA region in 1994, Changan has sold more than 400,000 vehicles with sales continuing to accelerate. Its premium electric vehicle brand AVATR now commands 10 percent of the UAE’s luxury EV market, while DEEPAL is gaining strong traction across the GCC and North Africa. These achievements underscore Changan’s commitment to localized operations and delivering vehicles engineered for long-distance mobility and performance in high-temperature environments.

“Our vision is to combine global innovation with local insight,” said Xiao Feng, General Manager of Changan Middle East and Africa Business Unit. “The Middle East and Africa are not just growth markets for us. They are long-term partners in building the future of intelligent, sustainable mobility.”
At IAA Mobility 2025, Changan showcased several landmark innovations shaping the future of smart, sustainable transportation. Chief among these was the Golden Shield solid-state battery, which will enter mass production by 2027. Offering a range of up to 1,500 kilometers on a single charge with industry-leading safety and performance under extreme conditions, the battery is particularly suited to markets such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Changan also presented its SDA intelligent platform, which integrates seamless connectivity, autonomous driving capabilities, and user-focused smart mobility features. The company highlighted its new BlueCore hybrid and electric drive systems, reinforcing its 110 billion RMB investment in research and development and a portfolio of over 400 EV technology breakthroughs.
Reaffirming its long-term commitment to MEA, Changan continues to invest in localized operations, service networks, and aftersales infrastructure to improve customer experience. This includes products and services tailored to the region’s unique climate, road conditions, and mobility demands. The company’s approach strengthens its connection with local communities while supporting its global ambitions.
IAA Mobility 2025 also marked the world premiere of the AVATR Vision Xpectra luxury concept, designed under the “Emotive Luxury” philosophy by award-winning designer Nader Faghihzadeh. The Vision Xpectra blends bold design and advanced EV technology, signaling Changan’s intent to deliver next-generation luxury mobility experiences to MEA customers as it enters a new phase of expansion.
