Three of Philippine cinema’s most legendary kontrabidas, Rez Cortez, Bembol Roco, and Dindo Arroyo, step out of their iconic villain roles and into the spotlight as unlikely heroes in the action-comedy-drama Kontrabida, premiering worldwide this Tuesday (August 19) at 8 p.m. (PHT) on iWant.
Known for decades as ruthless henchmen, crime lords, and kidnappers on screen, the trio now flips the script in a story that forces them to become real-life saviors.
Rez takes on the role of a “zaddy-lolo” ex-action star determined to win his grandson’s admiration. Bembol transforms into a reformed movie syndicate boss turned plantito and wellness advocate. Dindo portrays a once-feared villain who reinvents himself as a public servant-turned-baker inspiring the next generation.
Their worlds collide when they are kidnapped by rebels who idolize them as kontrabidas and are forced to train criminals. When a far greater threat emerges, the three must rise to the challenge of saving an entire town and prove that even villains can become true heroes.
Also starring in this riotous ensemble are Pekto, Tito Abdul, Tito Marsy, Andrew Bongat, Denise Joaquin, Buchoy Ubaldo, Richmond Geraldo, Imy Bantog, and Papa Ahwel.
