Lee Je-hoon is set to reprise his acclaimed role in the third season of Taxi Driver, as Viu and SBS confirm the global launch of the hit Korean drama. The upcoming season will premiere in the fourth quarter of 2025 as a Viu Original, available internationally except in South Korea and mainland China.
Following the widespread success of its first two seasons, Taxi Driver 3 continues the story of Kim Do-gi, a former special forces operative who becomes a vigilante hero, taking justice into his own hands for those the system has failed. Lee Je-hoon returns to the role that cemented his global reputation, alongside returning cast members Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin, and Bae Yoo-ram. The new season promises higher stakes and broader horizons, with an expanded international setting and more complex missions led by the Rainbow Taxi team.
The series continues under the direction of Kang Bo-seung and the writing of Oh Sang-ho, who are crafting what is described as the most dangerous and emotionally charged season yet. Joining the ensemble is Edan Lui from Hong Kong’s top boy group MIRROR, who will make his Korean drama debut. His character, who forges an unpredictable alliance with Kim Do-gi, brings a new twist to the evolving storyline and signals a growing trend of pan-Asian casting in K-dramas.
Park Jeong-hoon, CEO of Studio S, the production unit of SBS Media Group, expressed his excitement about the new season and the ongoing partnership with Viu. “We are delighted to introduce Taxi Driver 3 through our trusted and long-standing partnership with Viu, a platform with strong global influence and reach. Our production team is working diligently to create a high-quality drama that lives up to the legacy of Seasons 1 and 2, striving to meet and exceed the expectations of viewers.”
Janice Lee, CEO of Viu and Managing Director of PCCW Media Group, added, “Our fresh slate of titles reinforces our commitment to compelling storytelling that resonates locally and travels globally. In 2025, we are bringing new international collaborations such as Taxi Driver 3 and My Youth, delivering authentic, locally rooted productions with cross-border appeal.”
In addition to Taxi Driver 3, Viu’s 2025 content lineup features a wide range of regional titles, including the youth drama My Youth starring global icon Song Joong-ki. The platform is also investing in 12 new Malay-language series, produced in collaboration with top Malaysian studios such as Rumah Karya Citra and Global Station. Viu continues to deepen its footprint in Indonesia as well, through the Viu | MAXStream Originals partnership with Telkomsel.
With its powerful narrative, beloved cast, and a fresh international edge, Taxi Driver 3 is poised to be one of the most anticipated series of 2025, promising fans both the action and emotional depth that have defined the franchise’s global appeal.
