GMA Network Inc.’s trailblazing advocacy campaign Panata Kontra-Fake News earned top honors as Best Multi-Platform Campaign at the prestigious Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards held at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in Singapore.

Launched on National Press Freedom Day 2024, Panata Kontra-Fake News is a bold, multi-sectoral movement aimed at combating disinformation. Spearheaded by GMA Network with support from media, education, and tech partners, the initiative champions media literacy, critical thinking, and truth-telling among diverse Filipino communities.

GMA Integrated News led a coalition of nearly 60 partner organizations through a landmark Memorandum of Agreement signing, reinforcing its commitment to collaborative action. Its efforts include cross-platform fact-checking campaigns and the GMA Masterclass: Eleksyon 2025 “Dapat Totoo” Series, which has reached over 12,000 students across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The program empowers youth to recognize and reject false information.

Through powerful storytelling, special reports, and interactive content distributed via television, radio, and digital platforms, the campaign has equipped millions of Filipinos with the tools to navigate a complex information landscape.

“This international recognition is both a great honor and a renewed call to action,” said Oliver Victor B. Amoroso, Senior Vice President and Head of GMA Integrated News, GMA Regional TV, and Synergy. “Panata Kontra-Fake News embodies our deep commitment to credible journalism and our collaborative mission to defend the truth. This award belongs to every journalist, partner, and Filipino who believes in the power of facts.”

The campaign’s impact was amplified by the strong support of advocacy allies, from universities and media organizations to technology leaders, who helped expand its reach and deepen its influence.

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards recognize excellence in broadcasting, innovation, and digital transformation across the region. Winners are honored for pushing the boundaries of storytelling and helping shape a more informed society.

With this international accolade, GMA Integrated News and its partners reaffirm their mission to promote journalistic integrity, elevate public discourse, and lead the fight against fake news.
