Coming from the success Squid Game and Silent Sea in 2021, Korean actor Gong Yoo returns to Netflix with another limited series with a mystery melodrama theme entitled “The Trunk.” Joining him is Seo Hyun-jin, known for her hit Korean drama series Another Miss Oh, Dr. Romantic, Temperature of Love, and Why Her. The series will be directed by Kim Kyu-tae. He is the director behind multi-awarded series Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Iris, It’s Okay, That’s Love , and Love to Kill.
“The Trunk” follows In-Ji (Seo Hyun-Jin) who works for NM (New Marriage), a company that provides clients with spouses for fixed-term, one-year contract marriages. Having just completed her fourth contract, she is now set to meet Jung-Won (Gong Yoo) for her fifth. Jung-Won, a music producer, lives a life overshadowed by anxiety and loneliness, haunted by the pain of his past. He still deeply misses his ex-wife, Seo-Yeon, who ironically had signed him up with NM. As Jung-Won begins his new contract marriage with In-Ji, they slowly get to know and grow accustomed to each other. However, their relationship takes a turn when a mysterious trunk is discovered in a lake, unraveling hidden secrets tied to the NM company.
