“G Diaries” Season 8, “Change the World 2gether” closed out the environment month with a special song performed by “The Voice Kids” Season 2 champion Elha Nympha.
The song “Magkaugnay” was especially composed to be featured as a music video to show the highlights of the four environment advocacy episodes of the award-winning program.
“Magkaugnay” premiered on the June 27, 2021 episode of “G Diaries,” where the theme is bird and wildlife conservation. The episode, titled “The Song of the Myna” culminated a series of environment-related episodes aired in June, covering topics like water conservation and sustainability, marine life and biodiversity conservation, and native and endemic tree protection and propagation.
“I had goosebumps the first time I heard the song”, said Nympha of the original composition by Jenie Chan. “It is a very timely song now that we are in the midst of climate change. It opens up our environmental consciousness. We are given the choice – pagyayamanin ba o pababayaan natin ang kalikasan?”
Chan composed and thought of Nympha as the perfect artist to sing the song “Magkaugnay.” She said, “Aside from having the range and tone that is perfect for the song, she is a good role model for the youth. I am confident that she will be able to carry the message of love for the environment effortlessly.”
“G Diaries” is produced by the ABS-CBN Foundation, with the support of the Energy Development Corporation. It is hosted by ABS-CBN Foundation Director of Advocacy Ernie Lopez and his wife Michelle Andrea Arville.
