In the first round of the semi-finals of Tawag ng Tanghalan in It’s Showtime, the first five semi-finalists namely Dominador Alviola Jr., Maricel Callo, Rachel Gabreza, Jaime Navarro and Mary Gidget Dela Llana performed their audition song. This is part of the week-long vocal showdown of the semi-finalists vying for the slot in the Grand Finals of Tawag ng Tanghalan.
The first one to perform is the first semi-finalist Dominador or Daddy D tagged as “Ulirang Tatay ng Davao” with the song of Ray Charles entitled I Can’t Stop Loving You. He was followed by Rachel the “Sales Diva ng Makati” singing Lani Misalucha’s Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin and ending the first half was Jaime the “Dad Incredi-voice ng Navotas” performing Billy Ocean’s Suddenly.
On the second half, “Sweet Songstress ng Laguna” Mary Gidget performed Araw Gabi or Regine Velasquez and lastly Maricel the “Mama Sessionista ng Pagadian” ended the first round with Whitney Houston’s One Moment in Time.
Everyday, Tawag ng Tanghalan will be opening their voting lines until Saturday for viewers to vote on one contender they think who deserves to jump in the Grand Finals and voting lines will be closed later in the afternoon after the show. Viewers can vote 1 per day or total of 6 votes and it will be added to the total of votes of the jurors’ scores. And on the final showdown of the 1st batch of semi-finalists on April 2 we will find out on who will be the first Grand Finalists of Tawag ng Tanghalan. Tawag ng Tanghalan airs within It’s Showtime, Monday to Friday after Be My Lady and Saturday at 11:30am on ABS-CBN hosted by Anne Curtis, Karylle, Vice Ganda, Billy Crawford, Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla, Amy Perez-Castillo and Vhong Navarro.
