Week after the reveal of Congresswoman Leni Robredo as the running mate of Mar Roxas for the 2016 election under Liberal Party, the group officially unveils the bid for the senatorial slot. The names should be revealed last October 9 but LP need to move the announcement to finalize the names. The final list of LP’s senatorial candidates include:
- Franklin Drilon, Senator
- Ralph Recto, Senator
- Teofisto Guingona III, Senator
- Francis Pangilinan, Senator
- Panfilo Lacson, Senator
- Leila de Lima, Cabinet Secretary, DOJ
- Jericho Petilla, Cabinet Secretary, DOE
- Joel Villanueva, Cabinet Secretary, TESDA
- Mark Lapid, Celebrity Politican
- Risa Hontiveros, Partylist Representative
- Cresente Paez, Partylist Representative
- Nariman Ambolodto, DILG Assistant Secretary
Announcement was made in the party’s headquarters in Balay Expo Centro Building in Cubao, Quezon City. Former MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino is no longer included in the list. Other names that was rumored the be included are Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto, Saranggani Representative Manny Pacquio, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno.
