List of areas with suspended classes on Dec. 9 due to Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit)

As Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) moves to Southern Luzon bringing strong wind and heavy rain the local government units (LGUs) decided to suspend classes for the safety of the students and the whole member of the academe who might be experiencing floods in their respective areas.

Here are the list of municipalities in the National Capital Region (NCR) that suspended classes in all level:

  • Caloocan City
  • Las Pinas City
  • Makati City
  • Malabon City
  • Mandaluyong City
  • Manila
  • Marikina City
  • Muntinlupa City
  • Navotas City
  • Paranaque City
  • Pasay City
  • Pasig City
  • Pateros
  • Quezon City
  • San Juan City
  • Taguig City
  • Valenzuela City

Meanwhile provinces that announced suspension of classes include:

  • Batangas
  • Calapan City (Oriental Mindoro)
  • Laguna
  • Quezon
  • Rizal

The said suspension was announced by the mayors in the respective areas to ensure safety of their people. Typhoon Ruby that was downgraded to a tropic storm from super typhoon when it entered the Philippine of Area of Responsibility (PAR) with its first landfall in Dolores, Northern Samar. But still PAGASA warns everyone for the possible heavy rain and strong wind that it can bring as it moves west-northwest as it finally leaves PAR tentatively Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Compare to last year’s Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) it took 3 days to pass in the country bringing strong wind and heavy rain whereas Ruby takes 5 days.
