As we remember the day we faced and stood up against the wrath of Typhoon Yolanda in November 8, 2013, we remember not only the damages that brought to Eastern Visayan particularly in Eastern Samar, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Leyte and nearby place we also remember on how each one of us take part of the relief, rescue and rebuilding the lives of the victims. We share what we have and offer even our time and strength for relief operations from telethon and repacking of relief goods that were brought in the affected areas. Electrolux is one of the companies that stood up to become the helping hand to those who are in need.

Aside from the fund raising and relief operations that they launched internally and to their loyal partners, they lend their washing machines to be used for washing the clothes of the families who are in the affected areas and also the pre-loved clothes donated to them. And the advocacy never stops there as Electrolux continue their Save & Share campaign as they continue to accept pre-loved clothes which they will donate to families who were affected by calamities and children in orphanage.

For others, worn-out clothes are all nothing but waste. But with Electrolux they saw the opportunity to make it useful even there are holes or tattered shoulders or neckline. They thought why not cut it and make blankets from it with the help of Gawad Kalinga’s Trese Community in Payatas, Quezon City. Under the group of Human Nature that handles livelihood program and empowers women in the community and skilled men.

The worn out clothes were cut and sewn together to create beautiful quilts that’s a yard or two long which can be used as bed sheets and blankets by newly born babies and children in the orphanage and calamity affected areas. The project was spearheaded by Nanay Lita with the group of empowered women in Trese. In one day they can finish 8 blankets per person and they can produce 100 pieces within a week.

Aside from the blankets, Electrolux also partner with them in printing clothes that they can used for their company and something they can donate. With this they give work to the community of Gawad Kalinga in Trese together with other partner companies that commissioned them to do the printing projects which can be thru ironed on clothes or through the silk screen.

Electrolux not only extend their hands and encourage their partners to take part in sharing their blessings through donations they also empower communities by partnering with them like Gawad Kalinga and Human Nature.
