I Survived the Outbreak Manila’s Mission in the Walled City of Intramuros

It was crazy and fun, for a beginner type of a runner doing an Outbreak Manila challenge was a one of a kind experience. The Walled City: Intramuros mission of Outbreak really tested my endurance and patience not to mention facing my fear and gaining new friends.
I took the challenge last April 5 at the Intramuros with my friends and we end up joining with other group consisting of brothers, aunt and 8 year old nephew, couple and a soloist. I usually run in Bonifacio Global City or indoor via gym’s treadmill but with the Outbreak mission it doesn’t only test your running skills with few walks on the uneven elevated areas of Intramuros but also it tested our strategy to getaway from the zombies chasing us for our red flags.

I may have bruises on my left leg when I bump myself on the gutter where I almost fall on the first part of the run on the zombie infested road and had my “rugby player” like fall when I was knocked down on the floor during that crazy run in Plazuela dungeon area. But of course those bruises were part of the game and it added to the excitement. I’m just thankful to the zombie who immediately helped me to stand up after I hit the ground when one of the player hit me with that much force.

Aside from the adrenalin rushed obstacles of zombies, I enjoyed the concept where it has  story where the team need to decide which side are they joining the brotherhood or the rebels. It was choosing your own adventure where it will lead the team to more exciting challenges and different endings. And lastly the zombies were great from their make ups and costumes along with their dedication on their roles despite of being pushed accidentally by the participants and staying on the ground for more than 5 waves until midnight.

Also the rebels and brotherhood who patiently did their roles and explaining the mechanics even though there were bullies who buttung in when they were talking. And the rest of the organizers including marshalls and medics making the area safe good job guys. And I am looking forward for the next Outbreak Mission on the next story of the Adarna initiative to annihilate the zombies.
