Last January 24 at the Burbank California, Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution of Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Academy Award nominee actor Hugh Jackman will be joining the live-action film of Peter Pan. Jackman will be playing the role of the villainous Blackbeard in an all-new tale about author J.M. Barrie’s beloved character Peter Pan. He will be joined by Garrett Hedlund who will be playing Captain Hook in the movie.

Meanwhile, Peter Pan live-action film doesn’t have a title yet eventhough it is set to premiere on July 2015. According to Silverman, Hugh Jackman can deliver indelible performances that resonate with audiences. “We know he will create a Blackbeard who will be a powerful presence in this original Peter Pan adventure.” He added. While Kroll said they are trilled to work with Jackman again.

Hugh Jackman did and owned various roles in various films including Logan / Wolverine in the X-Men film series, and Jean Valjean in the film adaptation of Les Miserables. He is also a successful theater actor where he was awarded with Tony Award and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical for his 2003–2004 Broadway portrayal of Australian songwriter and performer Peter Allen in the hit musical The Boy from Oz.

The film will be directed by Joe Wright and screenplay under Jason Fuchs. Greg Berlanti and Paul Webster are serving as producers and will be having its worldwide release beginning July 17, 2015.
