The long is finally over because ABS-CBN through the group of Dreamscape who will be leading the production of Mars Ravelo’s Dyesebel in the Kapamilya Network announced that actress Anne Curtis will be playing the lead role. It has been more than a month since they start releasing the teaser of Dyesebel on TV that created the buzz who will be doing the iconic role which is a Filipina mermaid.
Before the announcement of Dyesebel in the late afternoon of January 9, among the Kapamilya actresses included Jessy Mendiola, Julia Montes, Kim Chiu, KC Concepcion, Empress, Erich Gonzales and Maja Salvador. It took more than a month for ABS-CBN to select and announced the name of the actress whom they think can truly portray the role which during those days they had auditions for secondary roles and even the young Dyesebel. Gerald Anderson and Sam Milby will be Anne’s leading men.
Dyesebel was a big hit in the Pilipino Komiks in 1952 to 1953 and later it landed on the big screen in 1953 and was top billed by Jaime de La Rosa as Fredo and Edna Luna as Dyesebel. Other prominent actresses who did the role of Dyesebel are Ruby Abucot, Vilma Santos, Alma Moreno, Alice Dixson, Charlene Gonzales, Ara Mina, and Marian Rivera.
Dyesebel will be the fourth mermaid teleserye of ABS-CBN after Marina of Claudine Barretto, Arynna of Ella Cruz and Mutya of Mutya Orquia
