After the announcement of James Franco for the role of Oscar Diggs for the film Oz The Great and Powerful that will be shown in the Philippines by March 8, 2013, Walt Disney Pictures now welcomes Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Mila Kunis who will be playing the witches; Evanora, Glinda and Theodora. The fantasy adventure film was directed by Sam Raimi.
Oz The Great and Powerful follows the character created by L. Frank Baum that is popularly known as the Wizard of Oz. In the film Oscar, a small time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. The residents of Oz believes that he is powerful and the great wizard except for the three witches named Glinda,Theodora and Evanora. Drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. With all his magical arts including the illusion, ingenuity and a bit of wizardry, Oscar will transform Oz to a new land and himself to become a better person.
Oz The Great and Powerful is produced by Joe Roth and written by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire. Grant Curtis, Philip Steuer and Palak Patel are serving as executive producers. It will be shown in all cinemas here in the Philippines starting March 8, 2013.
