Opening on March 16-April 15, Repertory Philippines’ presentation of Jekyll & Hyde will be at Onstage, Greenbelt 1 in Makati City. The gothic musical play features Cris Villonco and Kalila Aguilos as the two women in the life of Dr. Henry Jekyll and later faces the wrath of his alter ego Edward Hyde. The character Jekyll & Hyde will be played alternately by Jet Pangan and Michael Wiliams. The musical was directed Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo.
Cris Villonco is playing the role of Emma Carew and who is soon to be wife of Dr. Jekyll. She’s the daughter of Sir Danvers Carew (Steve Cadd) who is the Chairman of the Board of Governors where Dr. Jekyll seeks approval for his projects. Unfortunately with the current project that he is proposing it was disapproved by the Board of Governors but still it didn’t stop him for loving Emma who makes him sane from the hardship and frustrations he is facing at work.
While Kalila Aguilos who is playing the role of the saucy actress named Lucy Harris at the The Red Rat club, she sees Dr. Jekyll as a person whom she can confide with and maybe someone whom she can fall in love with. Unfortunately, from the comfort and caring words of Jekyll, she will be facing the cruelty of Jekyll’s doppelganger Edward Hyde.
But what is similar to the both character of Jekyll & Hyde is that they are two women hoping for perfect love but became witness and victims of the accident that Jekyll believes at first it was something for good. Everyone should expect how Cris and Kalila give all their emotions along with their powerful voices in the musical.
