Velvet Channel, Studio 23 and I Want TV to air live telecast of 84th Academy Awards

Velvet Channel, Studio 23 and I Want TV will take you on the front row seat to the Oscars as they air the live telecast of the 84th Academy Awards on February 27. On Velvet Channel (Skycable Channel 53) and I Want TV, you can watch the On the Red Carpet: The Arrivals Coverage at 6am to be followed by The Oscars Red Carpet Live at 8am and the Main Ceremony at 9:30am. On free TV Studio 23, viewers can watch the coverage at 10:30am.

The 84th Oscars will happen on Feb. 26 (4:00 p.m. PST, 7:00 p.m. EST) at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood and hosted by Billy Crystal. Nominees for this year’s Academy Awards include:

  • The Artist – Thomas Langmann
  • The Descendants – Jim Burke, Jim Taylor, and Alexander Payne
  • Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close – Scott Rudin

Best Supporting Actress

Other categories in the 84th Academy Awards are Best Writing – Original Screenplay, Best Writing – Adapted Screenplay, Best Animated Feature, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Documentary – Feature, Best Documentary – Short Subject, Best Live Action Short Film, Best Animated Short Film, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Makeup, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing and Best Visual Effects. Among the nominees, Hugo receives 11 nominations, The Artist got 10, Moneyball and War Horse got 6 nominations and The Descendants and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo got 5 nominations.

Expected actors and performers presenting at the Oscars are Michael Douglas, Halle Berry, Rose Byrne, Bradley Cooper, Tom Cruise, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Tina Fey, Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, Milla Jovovich, Ellie Kemper, Jennifer Lopez, Melissa McCarthy, Wendy McLendon-Covey, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Ben Stiller, Emma Stone and Kristen Wiig while world renowned Cirque Du Soleil is set to perform largest Cirque cast ever assembled for a single act.
