After the official release in United States last January 13, Contraband will be showing in all theaters nationwide here in the Philippines beginning January 25 and it will be distributed by United International Pictures though  Solar Entertainment Corporation. The action suspense film was a remake of the 2008 Icelandic film Reykjavík-Rotterdam where Baltasar Kormákur starred in and now is the director of the American version. The film brings back Mark Wahlberg into action film after his stint in Max Payne. Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster and Giovanni Ribisi joined Wahlberg in this movie.

Contraband follows Chris Farraday (Wahlberg), a change man who left his old life as a smuggler and contented as an installer of security alarms for work. Living peacefully with his wife Kate (Beckinsale) and children in New Orleans things change after receiving the news about his brother Andy (Jones) joined a group of smugglers and now facing the wrath of his boss Tim Briggs (Ribisi) after dropping all the goods in the ocean in order to save them from the inspection of the U.S. Customs. With his brother’s activity Chris is forced to meet Briggs and was forced to bring out the amount that his brother needs to pay or else the lives of all his love ones will be at stake. Now, he is forced to go back to his old life in order to get money faster in order to save his family.

After seeing Max Payne, it was great to see Wahlberg again doing action movie that is a thinker and a fighter at the same time. But knowing that Contraband was a remake of a 2008 Icelandic film Reykjavík-Rotterdam it is a challenge for the actor to be compared with actor Baltasar Kormákur who did the lead role and now the director on this movie. But it is better that viewers should decide and give their opinions about the film after all it earns a lot during its release in US.

Catch Wahlberg in this action film what will really put you on the edge of you seat. Opening in all theaters nationwide beginning January 25!
