Despite of Typhoon Pedring, Quiel and Sendong that caused hundreds of lives and leaving thousands homeless, Filipinos will still celebrating Christmas and hoping that a brighter day will come. Faith is what we always hold on to and Filipinos is known to be resilient – brave enough to face all the storms in his life and knows how to stand up every time he fall. Pass the hope, this is the message of Christmas. Everyone is passing all the help they can afford for our fellow Filipinos who are in Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and other typhoon affected area in Mindanao. We saw how the Bayanihan spirit ignites in the heart of everyone and that is the true meaning of Christmas on how we share our blessing to help others.

But of course we should also remember the real meaning of Christmas, which it’s not about what we serve in our dining table, what we wear and what we give or receive. It about remembering that there was child who came in the world in a very simple way who inspired us and carries all our sins in His shoulder. May we welcome him in our hearts and lives and accept him to inspire us that we may be simple and do well for others. Again let’s pass that message of hope to others as we celebrate Christmas as one country hoping for a better and brighter future ahead of us. Blessed Christmas to all!

This Nativity scene was taken from the San Guillermo Parish Church in Bacolor, Pampanga, 2 years ago where My Bukas Pa was shot. The church submerge in the flood filled with ashes during the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. Yet, it everyone in Pampanga stood up and continue their with their lives and remain positive.
