Marvel Studios, Paramount Pictures and Solar Entertainment brings to the big screen one of the legendary Marvel Comics characters that is based from Norse mythological god named Thor. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Colm Feore, Ray Stevenson, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins, Thor was directed by Kenneth Branagh and will be showing in all cinemas nationwide beginning April 29. It is available in 3D, IMAX 3D and regular format.

The American hero film follows the journey of Thor (Hemsworth), one of the sons of Odin (Hopkins), a great Norse diety and the ruler of Asgard. The Asgardians, consisting of deities including Odin once defended Earth and Asgard from the Frost Giant who wanted to entrap the human world in endless ice age. After so many years passed as a ruler of Asgard, Odin will be passing his crown to his successor and only one of his sons; Thor and Loki (Hiddleston) will be having that title. But based from the oracle the only person that carry the Mjolnir, the magic hammer of lightning will be worthy to succeed Odin, and Thor gained that power to lift the magic hammer. On the day of becoming the new king, a small group of frost giants manages to break in inside Asgard and Odin defended their world again, but the soon to be king Thor travels to Jotunheim with a group of his close friends in an attempt to threaten the leader of the frost giants, Laufey (Feore) and warned them not to attack again or he will wage war against them. Odin discovered what Thor did which is against his orders; he banishes his son to Earth taking away his Mjolnir and his powers. On Earth, he met Jane Foster (Portman), one of the members of the scientific team who researches about strange phenomena caused by the Bifröst, the bridge between Asgard and Earth. While on Earth, Thor’s brother Loki plans to rule Asgard and the human world while their father was in a deep sleep. Battle between against siblings begins one to gain power the other is defend the world where he found home.

Thor gives the viewer another point of view of other mythological deities which is often the Greek and Roman gods that were used in most of the movies. This time it shifted to the Norse Paganism that rooted from the Nordic Era passing to Germanic and Barbarian invasion up to the Viking Age. Having the idea that it passes to Barbarian and Viking, we may have the reason why the Norse deities has those kinds of clothing like Thor which is obvious with his armor and having hammer as his weapon. As for Chris Hemsworth, Thor was his latest fantasy action film after Star Trek and will be reprising his role as the Norse Thunder God in The Avengers in 2012.

Thor will be shown in all cinemas nationwide beginning April 29, a week earlier in United States (May 6). The film will be available in 3D, IMAX 3D and regular format and distributed by Solar Entertainment in cooperation with Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures.
