Academy Award Winner for Best Actress Natalie Portman will be playing the role of Jane Poster in Marvel Studio and Paramount Pictures’ film adaptation of Thor. She will be the love interest of Thor played by Chris Hemsworth, a Norse Lightning Deity who was banished in Earth after breaking the rule of his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins), the ruler of Asgard and the great Norse God. The film was directed by Kenneth Branagh and will be shown in all cinemas nationwide beginning April 29, in 3D, IMAX 3D and regular format.
Unlike from the original comic book in Marvel Comics, Jane Foster was a nurse for Dr. Donald Blake (Thor’s alter ego). They fell in love to each other and later Thor revealed his real identity to Foster and brought her to Asgard and lives as one of them having her own power a new deity. But she didn’t passed the test of courage given by Odin, she was stripped of with her power and returned to Earth without any memory of Asgard and even Thor. In the movie, Jane was one of the scientists investigating strange phenomena caused by the Bifröst, the bridge between Asgard and Earth. During one of their activity, Thor being banished by Odin fell in one of their van and they believed he was drunk that time. Thor revealed his identity to Foster and after S.H.I.E.L.D. (Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division), Jane help him to retrieve Mjolnir and to see Asgard as well.
As Hemsworth became part of Star Trek movie, Portman also did a sci-fi futuristic movie where she played the iconic role of Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.
Thor will be showing in all cinemas nationwide beginning April 29, in 3D, IMAX 3D and regular format. Distributed locally by Solar Entertainment.
