This sequel is better than the first one. I had the chance to the how rivalry grew between Greg (Zachary Gordon) and Rodrick (Devon Bostick) the Heffley brothers and how it strengthens their bond together. The film Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules was based from the best-selling book series of Jeff Kinney. The film was directed by David Bowers and will be shown in all cinemas nationwide beginning April 23.

Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules follows the story how Greg survives his brother Rodrick who was the bully in their family. In the first movie adaptation, Rodrick has few appearances because it focuses on Greg entering middle school with his best friend Rowley (Robert Capron). In this year’s movie it focuses on Greg and Rodrick’s relationship as brothers, mortal enemies and best friends.

Everyone can really relate with the movie from the sibling rivalry to school competition and to family issues. Each character from the primary roles to the secondary has a story to tell and we can see ourselves in them. But among the characters, Greg, Rodrick and Rowley were those played the most hilarious roles in the movie. The storyline is simple and common, but it was how the stars execute their characters in the movie.

Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules opens on April 23 in Metro Manila and Cebu theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.
