It’s crazy, loud and rebellious; this is how I described how the visionary Zack Snyder executed Sucker Punch which is now showing in all cinemas nationwide. As described by other film critics as the Alice in Wonderland with guns, Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung shows how pretty girls know how to kick ass in the movie.

Sucker Punch follows the quest of Babydoll (Browning) to escape from the mental asylum she was brought in by his step father after the death of her mother. With the help of Sweet Pea (Cornish), Rocket (Malone), Amber (Chung) and Blondie (Hudgens), they created a plan to gain their freedom by letting their imagination fly where it was only themselves can control.

I’m trying to avoid not including spoilers on this blog entry but here is the first wave of it; the film did pulled out a perfect transition of reality and imaginary world. The texture of the film gives the idea how dark and crazy the movie was especially how it was opened. It was amazing that the first 10 minutes of the film proves me that with the right execution, camera movement and angle and music can actually create a strong opening without dramatic lines.

The music/scoring give a big impact in the film it adds emotions and in my case it stirs my excitement in every transition the imaginary world. I am blaming Sucker Punch for my sudden attachment to Marilyn Manson’s rendition of Sweet Dreams and my Babydoll gestures two days after watching it in IMAX.

Why should watch Sucker Punch, I have three reasons; first it was Snyder who envisioned the film with Steve Shibuya, he was the person behind 300, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole and soon Superman: The Man of Steel in 2012. Second, it is rare to see pretty girls as pretty as Alice in Wonderland having guns and doing fight scenes and lastly you should not miss a perfect mixture of music, scene execution and out of the box story concept of Snyder.

Sucker Punch is now showing in all cinemas nationwide (as of March 25) and also available in IMAX theaters. The film is distributed by Warner Bros Pictures.
