The theater company that brings back Rent in the Philippines along with Songs from a New World, and The Wedding Singer will be opening its doors this summer for aspiring stage performers who wanted to undergo training with them. 9 Works Theatrical brings Stage Camp beginning April 11.
In cooperation with The Rockwell Club, Stage Camp will run for a total of six weeks The Loft @ Manansala Tower, Rockwell Center, Makati (Holy Week not included). This summer theater workshop includes singing, dancing and acting that is open for kids, teens and adults. The Stage Camp is divided in to three areas; Kiddie Camp will be conducted from 10am-12nn M-W-F for the first two weeks, and 10am-1pm for the last four weeks. Teens’ Camp will be held from M-F, 1pm-4pm while Adults’ Camp will be from M-F, 630pm-930pm. Each class will have a culminating showcase at the end of a six-week workshop and rehearsal period on either May 28 or 29. The showcase will be held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza, Makati City where most of theater companies do their performance.
Adults’ Camp will be spearheaded by 9 Works Theatrical’s Artistic Director Robbie Guevara who is the directorial force behind RENT, Songs for A New World, and The Wedding Singer while Teens’ Camp and Kiddie Camp will be taught by veteran stage actor Topper Fabregas (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Sound of Music, Disney’s Aladdin Jr.,) and theater actor and musical director Onyl Torres (Joy Luck Club, I Love You Because, A Christmas Carol), respectively.
