The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the third movie based from the third book authored by C.S. Lewis’s epic fantasy series The Chronicles of Narnia. The first two movies include The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian. The third installment was directed by Michael Apted and starring Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley as Edmund and Lucy Pevensies, with Will Poulter (Eustace Scrubb), Ben Barnes (King Caspian) and Liam Neeson (voice of Aslan).

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader follows the return of the remaining Pevensies siblings (Edmund and Lucy) that can return to Narnia. With their cousin Eustace they will help King Caspian to search for the seven lords and bring back their swords in Aslan’s table.

The third installment is the end of an era for the Pevensies. This is the movie where we will be seeing Edmund and Lucy, where as Susan will have small appearance in future films of Narnia. The film is more mature compare to the first two, it gives the remaining two Pevensies have their chance on fight scenes, which gives smaller exposure to Caspian.

Honestly, Eustace is so annoying and the only part where I enjoyed his character when he transformed to a dragon. I was hoping that he will be on that state until the end. But of course will be seeing more of him on the forth book where he will be continuing the journey of the Pevensies. The movie might be dragging or boring in the first part because of more talks rather than actions, or more long shots of the sea and the ship, rather than with the characters. Still I enjoyed the movie especially the “dragon” part.

3D or regular format, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is worth watching. Viewers must only keep in mind that most of the C.S. Lewis books are more on the conversational side rather than the fight scenes which we always connect with fantasy and adventure.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is now showing on Digital 3D cinemas and on regular format beginning December 9. The film is distributed by 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. Pictures.
